Visiting Napa Valley? Head to Oxbow Public Market to taste local produce, wines, ciders and more.
Napa Valley is home to countless world-class wineries and restaurants, but if you’re looking for a more relaxed experience with some of the best organic and local produce, charcuterie boards and small bites, try Oxbow Public Market. The 40,000 square foot marketplace showcases over 20 vendors with the best in casual dining that Napa has to offer.
What is Oxbow Public Market?
Since opening in 2007, the Oxbow Public Market has become an iconic Napa Valley destination. If you’ve never visited Oxbow Public Market, it’s part upscale grocer, part uber-fancy food court. You’ll find the best California wines, olive oils, organic produce and meats – but you can also grab a great cup of coffee or enjoy a casual meal. Each shop or restaurant occupies its own space, but what makes Oxbow Public Market unique is having so many incredible vendors under one roof.
Where is Oxbow Public Market?
Oxbow Public Market is conveniently located along the Napa River in the Oxbow District in downtown Napa. It’s within walking distance from many popular hotels and situated on the Napa Vine Trail.
Where to shop, sip and eat local and fresh
There’s so much to see (and taste!) at Oxbow Public Market. We’re sharing a few of our favorite shops and restaurants – but you can find the complete list here.
Hudson Greens & Goods
Hudson Greens & Goods offers a gorgeous selection of locally grown organic produce, pantry items and household goods. Much of the produce is grown on the Hudson family’s ranch in the Napa hills, but they also stock items from select small farmers and artisan producers. You’ll find everything you need to create a Michelin-worthy gourmet meal, including their very own Hudson wines and extra virgin olive oil.
Oxbow Wine and Cheese Merchant
Oxbow Wine and Cheese Merchant curates wines and cheeses from around the world, but we’re big fans of their California offerings.
Order their Local Cheese Board or pick up supplies to make your own. Not sure where to start? Try pairing your favorite Napa wine with specialty cheeses from Andante Dairy, Cowgirl Creamery, Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese Co. or SkyHill Farms. Making your own cheeseboard at home? Try adding a sweet element, like a jam from Friend in Cheeses Jam Co., a small Santa Cruz company making unique flavors with local fruits, veggies and herbs.
Bar Lucia
Stop into Bar Lucia to taste California rosé + sparkling wine expertly paired with small bites highlighting seasonal California Grown fruits and vegetables. If you’re looking to add a little more sparkle to your life, join their wine club for biannual shipments.
Hog Island Oyster Co.
Head to Hog Island Oyster Co. for fabulously fresh, sustainably caught seafood! Oysters, fish and more are trucked in each morning from nearby Tomales Bay and paired with produce from local farms and lots of Napa Valley wines to give guests a true taste of California.
C Casa
No trip to Napa is complete without a stop at one of our favorite wine country restaurants, C Casa. C Casa reimagines classic Mexican dishes with an international twist, using locally sourced meats, fish and lots of California Grown produce. We love the global street tacos, but you can’t go wrong with anything on this 100% gluten-free menu.
The Olive Press
Founded in 1995, the Olive Press has the unique distinction of being Sonoma’s very first olive mill. Shop for California olive oil, spice blends, spa products and more at their Oxbow Market location.
Loveski Deli
This self-proclaimed “Jew-ish” deli is famous for its housemade bagels, but we think its pickles and fermented veggies are the real stars of the show, many of which are grown in the St. Helena culinary garden.
Gott’s Roadside Grill
Since 1999, Gott’s Roadside Grill has delighted guests with uniquely Californian dishes made with locally sourced ingredients. Obviously, you’ll need to try the California burger, topped with an egg and Cowgirl Creamery wagon wheel cheese. Bonus: Gott’s Roadside Grill offers gluten-free and vegan options so that everyone can enjoy their iconic gourmet burgers.
Napa Valley Distillery
Napa is famous for wine, but Napa Valley Distillery is a favorite among locals and folks in the know. Stop in to taste their handcrafted spirits and cocktail mixers, many of which are infused with local ingredients, like Meyer lemons, ancho chiles and d’Anjou pears.
Whole Spice
The folks at Whole Spice firmly believe that freshly ground spices and seasonings can transform your culinary experience. Because they grind and blend on-site as needed, this truly is as fresh as it gets! Whole Spice carries unique spices and seasonings from all over the globe but look for California chili, paprika and herbs.
Fatted Calf
The Fatted Calf isn’t just a butcher shop. In addition to offering premium meats and charcuterie, they serve some truly incredible sandwiches, soups and more. Be sure to try the Duroc salami, made with Boonville Barn chiles, and wash it down with a local cider.
