The classic green bean casserole is a beloved and timeless dish that has graced holiday tables and potluck gatherings for generations. It’s one of the most popular green bean recipes on the planet! A comforting blend of tender green beans, creamy mushroom soup, and crispy fried onions, the iconic flavors embody the essence of comfort food.
The green beans provide a vibrant and nutritious base, while the rich and savory mushroom soup adds a velvety texture that coats each bean in indulgent goodness. Topping it all off is a generous layer of cheese and golden-brown, crunchy fried onions that not only add a delightful crunch but also contribute a burst of flavor. It’s a dish that evokes a sense of nostalgia and warmth, and it continues to be a cherished part of holiday traditions.
Here’s our friend Rachel Dunston’s version. She uses fresh (or frozen) California grown green beans and mushrooms, as well as some delicious cheese from the Golden State.
