Wine and Roses: Lodi Wines, Local Produce and Luxury Accommodations

If you’re heading to Lodi for a Wine Country getaway, you’ll want to check out Wine and Roses Hotel. Conveniently located in the heart of Lodi, this hotel and spa is known for an incredible selection of Lodi Wines, farm-to-table fare, gorgeous on-site gardens, live music, and more!

A part of Lodi’s rich agricultural heritage

With roots dating back to the early 1900s, Wine and Roses has ties to Lodi’s rich agricultural heritage. Originally, it was a seven-acre estate owned by local farmers Burton and Alice Town, and called Towne Corner. By the 1920s, Towne Corner was a local landmark – boasting a duck pond, lush rose gardens, and even a swimming pool! In 1984, Kris Cromwell converted the historic estate to a 10-room bed and breakfast. A little more than a decade later, Russ and Kathryn Munson purchased the property with big plans to transform Towne Corner into a luxurious, wine country destination.

How does Wine and Roses support Lodi winemakers?

As Lodi’s premier hotel, Wine and Roses played an integral role in the Lodi wine region’s effort to become an agritourism destination. After all, if people were going to visit the area, they’d need somewhere enticing to stay. Since the beginning, Russ and Kathryn have been committed to supporting the Lodi Wine industry, serving local wines in their restaurants, hosting weekly wine tastings, and even housing the Lodi Wine and Visitors Center onsite.

The Lodi Wine and Visitors Center

Whether it’s your first trip to Lodi or you’re just looking for a refresher on the region, the Lodi Wine and Visitors Center is an excellent place to start. Their knowledgeable staff suggest and pour a variety of regional wines, offer tasting flights, and share personalized winery recommendations. An adjacent demonstration garden introduces guests to a few of the region’s more popular grape varietals. This “outdoor classroom” was designed to share information about sustainable farming and about how winegrapes are grown.

Lodi wines + Wine and Roses: A mutually beneficial relationship

Over the last few decades, as the Lodi wine region has evolved from a region best known for bulk production wines to a bona fide Wine Country destination, Wine and Roses has evolved from a small bed and breakfast to a sought-after event space as well as Lodi’s most acclaimed hotel.

In 2015, Wine and Roses was named Lodi Business of the Year. Coincidentally, 2015 was the same year that Lodi was named Wine Spectator’s Wine Region of the Year. While the two awards were unrelated, the timing feels like an appreciative nod to the ongoing partnership between Wine and Roses and the Lodi Wine Commission. Since then, Wine and Roses has been featured in numerous travel publications and was most recently named one of USA Today’s Top 10 Wine Country Hotels. Similarly, acclaimed Lodi wineries like Micheal David, Mettler, Acquiesce and Oak Farm have helped to solidify Lodi’s reputation as a world-class wine region.

Locally grown produce paired with local wines

Farm-to-table food is the focus at Wine and Roses, and guests can choose to enjoy a relaxing farm-to-table meal in the restaurant or grab convenient locally sourced grab-and-go fare at the cafe + market (perfect for a day of exploring the area).

Towne House Restaurant

This farm-to-table restaurant showcases seasonal, locally grown and sourced ingredients – including herbs sourced from an on-site garden. Their impressive wine list boasts over 70 Lodi wines.

On Sunday and Monday nights, the restaurant hosts “Neighborhood Nights”. This family-style three-course meal was designed to celebrate local farmers, growers, ranchers and wineries. Towne House Restaurant’s menu changes daily.  So, while we can’t recommend any specific dish, we can guarantee that you’ll be served an authentic “taste” of the produce (and wines!) that the Lodi region is known for.

The Corner Cafe + Market

The Corner Cafe + Market offers grab-and-go bites – perfect for guests embarking on a busy day of winetasting! Like the Town House Restaurant, The Corner Cafe sources ingredients from local growers and producers.

Be sure to grab a bag of their homemade granola (made with locally grown fruit + nuts, obviously). Better yet, grab two bags. Save the second to enjoy at home with tangy California yogurt and a jar of the Corner Cafe’s locally grown honey.

Stay and play

Wine and Roses is the perfect base for your Lodi wine country adventure. Choose one of their 66 unique rooms and suites and spend a weekend enjoying farm tours, sipping on world-class wines, exploring downtown Lodi and savoring farm-to-table fare – grown with love by local farmers.
