Lemonade is often considered a summer treat–served cold on a hot, sunny day–but it’s even better in the cooler months, served warm at the peak of citrus season. Sweetened with honey and spiced with cinnamon, this simple recipe is finished with a little butter, which melts across the top adding richness to each sip. Keep it simple with a garnish of fresh lemon, or mix things up with other citrus, sliced apples, or ripe pears. For a spicy alternative, try it with fresh jalapenos!
Additional lemonorange, apple, pear, jalapeño or other seasonal garnish, thinly sliced
Instructions
In a medium saucepan, combine the lemon juice, lemon zest, honey, sugar, cinnamon sticks, and water. Bring to a boil then reduce heat to a gentle simmer, and cook for 10 minutes. Taste and adjust for desired sweetness and concentration.
Transfer the lemonade to a small punch bowl and garnish with sliced lemon or seasonal fruit. Ladle into individual serving glasses, topping each with a small pat of butter.
