1large orange, any variety, peeled and cut into wheels or supremes
2TBSPchopped pistachios
1tsphoney
2sprigs thyme,stems removed
flaky sea salt
Instructions
To make the butter:
Place all ingredients in a mixing bowl. Using a spatula, mix together until fully combined. You can also use a Kitchen Aid with the paddle attachment. Scrape the sides a few times to make sure everything is incorporated.
Place the butter in an airtight container and store refrigerated for up to two weeks, or freeze for up to a month.
To assemble the toast:
Preheat a medium skillet by placing it on the stove at medium-low heat. Let it warm up for a minute or two.
Spread one teaspoon of butter evenly on one side of the bread.
Place the bread, buttered side down, onto the preheated skillet, making sure it sits flat.
While the bottom side is toasting, spread the remaining butter on the top side of the bread.
Keep a close eye on the bread as it toasts. When the bottom side turns golden brown and crispy (about 1-2 minutes), flip it with a spatula or tongs.
Allow the second side to toast until it achieves a golden-brown color and a satisfying crunch (another 1-2 minutes).
Remove the bread from the skillet.
Spread two tablespoons of the prepared honey-cinnamon butter over the top of the toasted bread.
Next, evenly spread the orange wheels or supremes over the buttered bread.
Garnish with chopped pistachios, thyme leaves, flaky sea salt, and a generous drizzle of honey.
Notes
You can toast slices of bread in the toaster or toaster oven instead of on the stovetop if desired.
