Nestled within the vibrant valleys of North San Diego County is Quixote Farm. Perhaps surprisingly, this sanctuary, lovingly built in an inviting citrus grove, emerges as a haven for lovers of the great outdoors. Born from Lara and Skip Lanfried’s vision, it combines the rustic beauty of nature with the modern luxuries of their bed and breakfast, and, coming soon, glamping! And all of this takes place on a real, working farm, offering an unforgettable experience.

A Multigenerational Haven

Quixote Farm’s inception was deeply intertwined with the Lanfrieds’ desire to create a multi-generational living space. “Part of our challenge was wanting to learn about and embrace a regenerative farming lifestyle and also part of it was a vision for our extended family,” Skip explains.

A Multigenerational Haven

This vision quickly materialized as soon they welcomed their adult daughter to the farm as well as their aging parents. Today, the farm is a vibrant, intergenerational community where every family member plays a role in its operations. From tending to the animals to welcoming guests, everyone has a job to do.

“We have about 55-acres of planted avocados. We have an orange grove, a lemon grove, and then we also have a grapefruit grove. Part of the experience when people come and stay here is they get to go and pick their own fruit. We have juicers in every single place we rent out, and we have bags that Lara custom-made that say ‘Quixote Farm’. We encourage them (guests) to go out and pick some fruit, eat it, and juice it.”  Skip says.

Quixote Farm is a destination spot for groups of friends and families, including those with children. “We’ve created a space where spending time together becomes unforgettable,” Lara says. She highlights the availability of bunk beds and outdoor lounge areas perfect for bonding over a board game or a warm fire pit. It is the perfect way and the perfect place to reconnect.

Sustainability at Its Core

“Part of our ethos is maintaining a balance with nature,” Lara points out. Quixote Farm’s commitment to sustainability is evident through its regenerative farming practices and eco-friendly amenities. This dedication ensures that guests enjoy their experience while contributing positively to the environment. “It’s about providing a luxury experience that respects our surroundings and showcases the best of what nature has to offer,” Lara continues.
