CALIFORNIA GROWN
Quixote Farm’s inception was deeply intertwined with the Lanfrieds’ desire to create a multi-generational living space. “Part of our challenge was wanting to learn about and embrace a regenerative farming lifestyle and also part of it was a vision for our extended family,” Skip explains.
This vision quickly materialized as soon they welcomed their adult daughter to the farm as well as their aging parents. Today, the farm is a vibrant, intergenerational community where every family member plays a role in its operations. From tending to the animals to welcoming guests, everyone has a job to do.
The integration of their family into daily life on the farm is a source of joy and fulfillment for Lara and Skip. Each family member brings their unique strengths and passions. From managing the you-pick operations to crafting delicious baked goods for the farm stand, this collaborative effort not only strengthens their bond but also enriches the experience for visitors, who often remark on the genuine warmth and welcoming atmosphere at Quixote Farm.
At the heart of Quixote Farm is a spirit of community and care that permeates every aspect of life. The Lanfrieds extend their familial warmth to include not just their biological relatives but everyone who steps onto their property.
“Quixote Farm was our leap towards creating something uniquely beautiful and restful,” Lara shares. She highlights the farm’s foundation on principles of regenerative agriculture and a deep-rooted family legacy. Coming in the fall, Quixote’s glamping tents will not be just accommodations – they will be spacious sanctuaries ensuring a luxury experience amidst nature’s tranquility.
“Our glamping experience is designed to immerse our guests in the serenity of nature without compromising on comfort,” Skip explains about their plans to bring glamping amenities to the farm this fall. With options ranging from deluxe bed and breakfast style cabins offering extra space for large families to cozy tent sites equipped with real beds and string lights, Quixote Farm aims to cater to every preference, ensuring that each stay is memorable. “It’s about blending the outdoor adventure with the conveniences that modern life affords us,” he adds.
If glamping in a tent isn’t quite your thing, you should look into renting one of Quixote Farm’s bed and breakfast accommodations. Each space offers a serene retreat infused with rustic charm and modern amenities.

“We have about 55-acres of planted avocados. We have an orange grove, a lemon grove, and then we also have a grapefruit grove. Part of the experience when people come and stay here is they get to go and pick their own fruit. We have juicers in every single place we rent out, and we have bags that Lara custom-made that say ‘Quixote Farm’. We encourage them (guests) to go out and pick some fruit, eat it, and juice it.” Skip says.
Quixote Farm is a destination spot for groups of friends and families, including those with children. “We’ve created a space where spending time together becomes unforgettable,” Lara says. She highlights the availability of bunk beds and outdoor lounge areas perfect for bonding over a board game or a warm fire pit. It is the perfect way and the perfect place to reconnect.
The farm extends beyond just a place to stay. It’s an immersive experience into sustainable living and the joys of the countryside. Emphasizing the unique options that integrate guests into the farm’s daily rhythm, Lara explains, “Guests can explore the farm, engage with our rescue animals, and even pick fresh produce right from our orchard.”
“Part of our ethos is maintaining a balance with nature,” Lara points out. Quixote Farm’s commitment to sustainability is evident through its regenerative farming practices and eco-friendly amenities. This dedication ensures that guests enjoy their experience while contributing positively to the environment. “It’s about providing a luxury experience that respects our surroundings and showcases the best of what nature has to offer,” Lara continues.
At the heart of Quixote Farm’s allure is the Lanfried family’s passion for sharing their slice of paradise. “This farm isn’t just our home; it’s a legacy we’re building for future generations,” Skip reflects. Their vision of a communal space where guests can immerse themselves in the farming lifestyle and partake in the farm’s daily joys is what sets Quixote Farm apart. “We want our guests to leave feeling like they’re part of our extended family,” Lara adds.
