Dark Chocolate Orange Slices (or Tangerine/Mandarin) with Sea Salt

These Dark Chocolate Orange Slices are sprinkled with sea salt for even more California flavor. This treat is easy to make, easy to eat and everyone will love them! Works beautifully with Navel oranges, Valencia oranges, Tangerines, Mandarins or Clementine oranges.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 California oranges, peeled and segments separated Navel, Valencia, Tangerines, Mandarins or Clementine oranges will all work
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips milk chocolate will work too
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil
  • sea salt flakes

Instructions
 

  • Spread the orange segments on a sheet pan lined with parchment paper or a Silpat. Set aside

Melt the chocolate + coconut oil:

  • Add the chocolate chips and the coconut oil to a double boiler, or set a large metal bowl over a pot of boiling water and add the chocolate chips and coconut oil. Melt over medium heat until thoroughly melted, stirring often. Remove the chocolate from the heat.

Make the dark chocolate oranges:

  • Dip each orange segment about 2/3 into the melted chocolate, leaving a portion uncovered for easy eating. Set each coated segment back on the sheet pan.
  • Sprinkle the sea salt over each chocolate section before the chocolate cools. Place in the refrigerator until the chocolate is set.
  • Serve and enjoy!

Notes

Recipe can be doubled or tripled, one batch of chocolate should be enough for 3-4 large oranges or 4-6 Tangerines or Mandarins.
