Equipment

Ingredients
  

FOR BATTER

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 Tablespoon sugar
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 egg
  • 3 granny smith apples
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar for dusting
  • high temp oil for frying like vegetable oil, Grapeseed, or peanut oil.

Instructions
 

  • Heat up vegetable oil in a deep fryer or deep sided pan over medium high until the temperature reaches 375°F.
  • Combine all the batter dry ingredients in a medium bowl.
  • Make a well in the dry ingredients. Add the buttermilk and egg. With a fork, whisk the milk and egg and then incorporate all into the dry ingredients.
  • If batter seems too think, add a few dashes of regular milk to thin it out.
  • Slice the apples into 1/4 inch rings. Remove the core with a small cookie cutter.
  • Dip the apple slices into the prepared batter and place into hot oil.
  • Fry on both sides for a few minutes until golden.
  • Remove from oil and allow to drain on a paper towel.
  • Dust with powdered sugar to serve.
