Fried Apple Rings: a fun and delicious alternative to classic apple pie!

FOR BATTER
- 1 cup flour
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 Tablespoon sugar
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 egg
- 3 granny smith apples
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar for dusting
- high temp oil for frying like vegetable oil, Grapeseed, or peanut oil.
Heat up vegetable oil in a deep fryer or deep sided pan over medium high until the temperature reaches 375°F.
Combine all the batter dry ingredients in a medium bowl.
Make a well in the dry ingredients. Add the buttermilk and egg. With a fork, whisk the milk and egg and then incorporate all into the dry ingredients.
If batter seems too think, add a few dashes of regular milk to thin it out.
Slice the apples into 1/4 inch rings. Remove the core with a small cookie cutter.
Dip the apple slices into the prepared batter and place into hot oil.
Fry on both sides for a few minutes until golden.
Remove from oil and allow to drain on a paper towel.
Dust with powdered sugar to serve.
