In 2001, many of the state's agricultural industries joined together to create the Buy California Marketing Agreement. Their goal? To increase the awareness and consumption of the state's diverse agricultural products through a multifaceted, generic marketing campaign revolving around a California identity.

Each signatory group receives a seat on the Buy California Board of Directors, ensuring that all signatory members have a hand in shaping the program. Other signatory benefits include seeing their products promoted in specific "California Grown" activities and having use of the CA GROWN logo at no charge for their industry members.
